Gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson hosted a grand opening of its new Tennessee headquarters Saturday after moving from its longtime home in Massachusetts to a more gun-friendly state.The company built a new 650,000-square feet headquarters in Maryville, Tennessee, as part of a $125 million relocation plan announced in 2021. Tours were offered at the new facility on Saturday.The gunmaker had been located in Springfield, Massachusetts, since the mid-19th century, but company officials have said legislative proposals in that state would prohibit them from manufacturing certain weapons. By The Detroit NewsThe U.S. Treasury Department released proposed guidance for point-of-sale discounts many consumers will be able to get on electric vehicles beginning Jan. 1, 2024.The consumer discount is one of the significant changes to electric vehicle tax credits implemented under the Inflation Reduction Act, Democrats’ climate and clean energy bill that passed last year.The 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV is among the vehicles that qualify for the revised electric vehicle tax credit.Under the new law, new vehicle buyers can get up to $7,500 off certain plug-in electric vehicles or fuel cell vehicles if they make less than $150,000 (or $225,00 for heads of households and $300,000 for married couples). Power outage closes Brockton’s Good Samaritan Medical Center, patients diverted

The Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton stopped accepting some incoming patients Saturday after flooding caused a power outage, according to the city’s emergency management agency.The Brockton Emergency Management Agency said they were at the hospital working on a “major power outage resulting in the closure and evacuation of some areas of the hospital.”“Although the emergency room remains open to walk-in patients, all ambulances are being diverted to other hospitals,” the agency said in a statement just before 4:30 p.m.. “Remember that Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital still remains closed following the fire earlier this year.”BEMA Director Steve Hook said at 4 p.m. that street power had been restored to the entire hospital, “however, only the emergency room has power.”“They cannot perform surgeries, ICU, etc. Walk-in patients are being accepted into the emergency room but ambulances are being diverted. SAN MARCOS, Calif. -- A 12-year-old was taken into custody Saturday in connection to a bomb threat that prompted a lockdown at San Marcos High School.According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff's Station responded to the school to investigate the threat Friday morning.
